“Thank you so much for the great experience during the whole CCO crane certification class. You made the application process easy, and it was always pleasant speaking with you. After hearing other operators tell how difficult their experiences were with other crane training programs, I was a little nervous. I found that with Nationwide Crane Training there was no need to be nervous. By the time that test day came, I felt very prepared. I would highly recommend them and plan to use them in the future.” ~Bobby G
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for a wonderful class and for helping these guys to take the tests and to pass them. To be quite truthful I had my doubts on a couple of people but they all fooled me and pulled through. Once again, thank you.” ~Howard de Fluiter

FAQ
How much does a heavy equipment operator license cost?
Our heavy equipment school costs start at $500 for the qualified rigger course, and tuition increases depending on the classes you take and how many certifications you attain. You will also be responsible for the certification test costs. But remember, acquiring a heavy equipment operator certification is a valuable investment that pays off fast. And it’s not just about salary: Operators with CCO certifications should expect to face less competition and have an easier time finding work.
Are you accepting new students?
Yes! NCT currently has training programs open to students of all levels of experience. We offer in-person and online classes with hands-on training. For experienced operators, we offer open enrollment courses, and for new operators, we offer our crane training boot camp.
How long do heavy equipment operator courses take?
As with the cost, the length of time it takes to learn to operate heavy equipment or attain certification depends on the type of training you choose. Courses can last up to seven days, depending on the options you choose. No matter what, you’ll earn your certifications fast, so you can get on with your business.
How old do you have to be to sign up for a heavy equipment operator certification?
Our training classes adhere to NCCCO’s guidelines, which state that you must be at least 18 years of age to obtain a certification.
In addition, you must comply with NCCCO’s Substance Abuse and Ethics policies, pass the core and at least one specialty written examinations and pass the practical examination within 12 months of passing the written examination.
Do I need a CDL to take heavy equipment classes?
No, you don’t need a commercial driver’s license (CDL) to take NCT’s classes, and you can operate a crane without a CDL as well. However, mobile cranes and other heavy machinery require a CDL license to operate if you need to move the crane truck itself, and most companies would rather hire someone with a CDL over someone who can’t drive the vehicle. Like an NCCCO certification, obtaining a CDL can give you more opportunities and an edge over someone who hasn’t.
